Have you ever heard of Friendsgiving?

Thanksgiving is a great holiday, especially because it’s when families find time to make their way home.

There’s no “official” calendar holiday dedicated solely for your closest friends, and so Friendsgiving is a tradition that the new generation has endearingly created.

There’s no need to hug strangers who claim to be your long lost cousin at this event.

“I just think that it’s just one of those types of holidays where you celebrate and strengthen your connections with your friends,” senior Tessa McMenemy said.

How does one celebrate Friendsgiving?

To start with, find a date that’s convenient for most of those in a group of friends. Then grab a quick gift, and it doesn’t have to be expensive.

High school students don’t always have a wide-ranged budget. It could be a meaningful handmade gift or one bought on a whim on the basis of an inside joke.

Everyone should bring at least one item of food to the table. Lastly, it’s imperative that everyone wears a holiday sweater – the ones people secretly been collecting at the back of closets since early childhood, however, a turtleneck would suffice if you vehemently reject the idea.

So take a chance and spend the evening with your loved ones – the loved ones who weren’t born into knowing, but happened to meet along the way.

Most importantly: Be grateful for every loving family member and friend in your life.
