Counselors paid a special visit to Freshman Studies and Health classes on Thursday in order to promote school pride and raise school spirit.

Students played a quick Kahoot game to quiz Chaparral’s latest class of students on their Chaparral knowledge. The student scoring the highest amount of points earn a small prize.

Counselors later played a video of various students singing the Chaparral Fight Song, encouraging the students in the room to learn and sing along.

Counselor Christy Zamora and health teacher Megan Stanley split the room between girls and boys– starting a friendly competition as to who could sing it louder.

Although the boys won this round, there’s no predicting who might be the winner the next time.

“I’ve always heard the marching band sing the fight song during games,” freshman Sonia Encana said. “If more people were to sing along in the crowds, I would probably feel more comfortable to go along with it.”

Ricky James Robles, another freshman, also mentioned how he hadn’t known the fight song at all prior to the day, but heard it all the time during school events. He learned the lyrics, proving the event to be beneficially informative.

Chaparral High School Fight Song

Cowboys, Chaparral Cowboys

Ride on to a victory

While we pile the score up high

Orange and Black will fly

Banners waving proud

Fans are yelling loud

Fight with all your might

Come on and win tonight

Cowboys, Chaparral Cowboys

Fighting strong and bold

To our team we are the best

Spirit will do the rest

Banners waving proud

Fans are yelling loud

Chaparral Cowboys

Rah!
